چکیده

Maturing seeds of Sinapis alba were incubated with D-[U-14C]glucose, sodium [l-14C]acetate or m>>0-[U-14C]inositol in order to prepare radioactively labelled phytic acid with high specific activity. Although each substrate was utilized for the biosynthesis of phytic acid, maximum incorporation of radioactivity into phytic acid was found with rayo-inositol. Radiochemical purity of the [U-14C]phytic acid preparations was confirmed by chromatographic techniques. Such preparations should be useful for the study o f interaction of phytic acid with metal ions and proteins and may serve as substrate in the assay of phytase.

Comparative study of the polypeptide profiles and functional properties of Sinapis alba and Brassica juncea seed meals and protein concentrates

Defatted meals and protein concentrates from six accessions of Sinapis alba and one accession of Brassica juncea mustard seeds were analysed for their polypeptide profile and functional properties. Two types of protein concentrates were prepared using acid-induced and calcium-induced protein precipitations. Meals from the S alba seeds had similar polypeptide composition, which was different fro...

Metabolic Characteristics in Meal of Black Rapeseed and Yellow-Seeded Progeny of Brassica napus-Sinapis alba Hybrids.

Breeding of yellow-seeded rapeseed (Brassica napus) is preferred over black-seeded rapeseed for the desirable properties of the former. This study evaluated the metabolites and nutritive values of black-seeded rapeseed meal and yellow-seeded meal from the progeny of a B. napus-Sinapis alba hybrid. Yellow-seed meal presented higher protein (35.46% vs. 30.29%), higher sucrose (7.85% vs. 7.29%), l...

Volatile Glucosinolate Degradation Products of Brassica Napus and Sinapis Alba Seeds

Brassica napus L. and Sinapis alba L. are two cruciferous species for which some medicinal uses are mentioned in the Iranian, Indian and Chinese traditional medicine. Seed oil of  B. napus has cathartic action, and is either used as such or after partial hydrogenation for cooking, shortening or as margarines. Sees of S. alba have also cathartic action and some other medicinal uses but, beca...

Partial Purification and Some Properties of l-Sinapoylglucose: Choline Sinapoyltransferase (“Sinapine Synthase”) from Seeds of Raphanus sativus L. and Sinapis alba L

Hydroxycinnamoyltransferases which catalyze the formation of O-sinapoylcholine (sinapine) using l-0-sinapoyl-ß-D-glucose as acyl donor have been isolated from seeds of radish (Raphanus sativus L. var. sativus) and mustard (Sinapis alba L.) and purified 420and 293-fold, respectively. The enzymes (“sinapine synthase”) had apparent molecular weights of about 60,000 daltons and showed highest activ...

EFFECTS OF NaCl ON SEED GERMINATION IN SOME SPECIES FROM FAMILIES Brassicaceae and Solanaceae

The ability of seeds to germinate at high salt concentration in the soil is crucial importance for the survival and perpetuation of many plant species. Therefore, we examined effects of different concentrations of NaCl (200, 400, 600 and 800 mM) on germination of four species from fam. Solanaceae and Brassicaceae (Capsicum annum, Solanum lycopersicum, Brasica oleracea and Sinapis alba). By this...
